Details

Since 2011, Gift of Life Howie’s House has served as a “home away from home” for transplant patients and their families by providing temporary, affordable lodging and supportive services to those who travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for transplant-related care.

Home Cook Hero volunteers are essential to helping us ensure all transplant families come back to a home-cooked meal during their stay in Philadelphia.

Join us as we serve as Home Cook Heroes on October 5th.

Details:

  • We will be preparing our meal at Gift Of Life Howie's House - located at 401 Callowhill Street | Philadelphia, PA 19123.
  • Parking: There is a free, gated parking lot at Howie’s House. Once you pull into our front gate (located on Callowhill Street), you may park anywhere you like.
  • Anyone participating in this opportunity must be fully vaccinated - one dose for the Janssen vaccine and two doses for Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.  Temperature checks may also be taken upon arrival.
  • Many guests at Howie’s House have weakened immune systems due to their treatment and medication. Exposure to communicable diseases represents a more serious danger to those individuals.
    • Thus, if you have displayed signs of illness within the last 7 days, we ask that you don not attend cancel you registration. Examples include signs of infection, flu-like symptoms, rashes, cough, or GI issues.
    • Volunteers may be asked to wear mask during their time of service.
  • Volunteers are invited to stay and eat the meal we prepare or take a plate to go.
  • Children, ages 12+, can attend participate.
